The biggest benefit that I have had with the iPad is my increased productivity. I have been more efficient during conferences and meetings. If I take notes, I write the material so that I can directly copy and paste to the emails, letters, handouts, etc… Doing the work immediately allows me to be more productive; when out of the building for a period of time I am swamped with catch up work much less the implementing the new materials. Now I feel I can actually take steps towards the new material I obtained.

The iPad has been routine for me in both my personal and professional life. My children use the iPad in social settings for entertainment and to reinforce their academics. At home I will quickly access the internet or check my work and home email from the couch. Otherwise I might delay the research. At school, I have begun using the iPad in my individual counseling with younger students. I also work routinely from the iPad to stay connected to school when I am out of the building. These behaviors have become second nature to me and will be a continued practice for me.

My favorite part of the class has been the “sit and get” time together. It is so time intensive to do the research portion of finding apps that are useful and appropriate for your educational field. I liked learning about apps that I could quickly download, know the purpose, how to use, and instantly start. That value and exploration energizes me to try new things with my students and for my professional practice. I could spend a lot more time exploring their 15 apps project.
